There are lots of reasons to love summer: pools, bbq’s, bike rides, gelato, flowers, relaxing on the deck, family vacations, the beach, sailing and especially – not shoveling snow. For some people summer is the perfect time to head out doors to work in the garden (see Lorraine Mennen’s article), for others it’s time to head out on the trail by bike or foot, so check out Barb Campbell’s article on triathlons. Summer is also a great time to take in others people’s gardens, and we’ve given you our annual handy Erin garden tour guide. Don’t forget those summer night skies especially if you’re in a light pollution free part of the country such as Algonquin Park. For night sky lore be sure to check out Lauri Kangas’ story. After a hot day in the sun you’ll want to cool off with the kids. If you don’t have a pool, don’t worry – try a quarry instead! Not convinced? Then read Sandra Traversy’s article on the joys of swimming in locales such as the Elora Quarry. Summer is also all about family outings of course and what better place to enjoy both the countryside and fine art than the McMichael collection. You’re in for a special treat this summer as the McMichael features renowned wildlife painter Robert Bateman. See our article "Natural Selection".
Have a great season!
