The Halton Hills Sports Museum will induct Walt Dixon, David Armstrong, Frank van de Valk, Paul Robinson, Haddy Smedema and Harold Townsley into the Halton Hills Sports Museum Hall of Fame for 2010. The museum, located at the Mold-Masters SportsPlex, is having the fourth gala induction ceremony at the John Elliott Theatre. The public is invited to attend to witness the induction ceremony of these athletes and builders of sport. The Friends of the Halton Hills Public Library will be holding just one book sale in June this year. There will be no book sale in Acton as construction has started for the new Acton Library. Georgetown Little Theatre will host a play reading of Frederick Knott's suspenseful thriller "Wait Until Dark", 7:30 p.m. at GLT's Studio (33 Stewarttown Road). Join United Way of Halton Hills for a special day of beauty, colour and exciting activities! Tea At the Manor will be held at a spectacular home located in Limehouse. The event will consist of a topiary garden tour, guided tours on the wooded trails, music, a fashion show, gardening demos, tour of the conservatory, and a strawberry social. Limehouse Kiln Society invites all to attend a celebration of its recent achievements in the Limehouse Conservation Area, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Limehouse Memorial Hall. The event includes short 20-minute hikes to showcase the new interpretive signage at the kiosk as well as trail enhancement and new fencing to highlight the progress of the majestic draw kiln. Please join LKS with its partners Town of Halton Hills and Credit Valley Conservation for this special day. Of course you are free to hike up to the ball diamond to see similar new signage at the kiosk leading into the Bruce Trail. The early industrial history of Limehouse will now be available to all who hike the trail.

Come celebrate Canada Day with the community of Glen Williams with events from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. including pancake breakfast, noon parade, opening ceremonies at 1 p.m., children's game and every popular Duck Race at 4 p.m. The Georgetown Little Theatre Youth Company will participate in the noon parade and will be doing face painting in the Park, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bring your kids and drop by the St. John's United Church fish pond in the Glen Williams ballpark... just some of many things to enjoy at the Canada Day Celebrations in the Glen.

Stay in Glen Williams for a Canada Day Chicken BBQ & Fireworks at St. Alban's Church hall and grounds, 537 Main St. Barbecue begins at 6:30 p.m. and fireworks at dusk. Then the Acton Fire Fighters Association is hosting its annual Canada Day fireworks display at Prospect Park, starting at dusk. Firefighters will be accepting donations at the gate to help cover the costs of the show. Knox Presbyterian Church, 44 Main St. N., Acton is offering Summer Sunday School classes for children during July and August. The theme is Seaquest, Diving For God's Treasure. Yoga in the Park will start July 8 at Prospect Park in Acton. Presented by Leanne Monaghan of Staying Alive Fitness, the program is a seven-week fundraiser for the Upper Credit Humane Society Thursdays. Yoga classes are free and open to all skill levels, with a donation of your choice (food, supplies, money) to UCHS; yoga mats will also be available for rental for $2, all proceeds go to the Shelter. Auditions for Georgetown Little Theatre's production of "Wait Until Dark", a suspenseful thriller by Frederick Knott, will take place 7- 9:30 p.m. and also on Sunday, July 11, 1-4 p.m. at the GLT Studio (33 Stewarttown Road, Georgetown). July 10
Upper Credit Humane Society is holding a yard sale to support the Kitten Foster program at the Limehouse Memorial Hall in Limehouse. Sale runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. with "a box for a toonie" from noon to 1 p.m. Canadian Tire money accepted for purchases. The group can also deliver bulky items if local delivery. The three local Anglican churches join together to offer Vacation Bible School - Baobob Blast. It's three fun-filled weeks of games, crafts, music and snacks, open to kids aged 4-12. From July 19-23, Georgetown Alliance Church provides an action-packed week of basketball that includes daily instruction from coaching staff and camp director Richard Matolo, games and a practice each day with your team, and plenty of team and individual competitions. The President's Cup Golf Tournament will be held at The Club at North Halton. Enjoy golf, cocktail reception, dinner, silent auction, and awards. Proceeds from the President's Cup are donated to the Georgetown Hospital Foundation to fund both medical equipment and capital redevelopment at Georgetown Hospital- the tournament goal is $40,000 in support of local healthcare. August 2
Le Tour de Terra Cotta, a cycling race for everyone, whether you're looking for a first-time cycle race experience or a seasoned veteran. Races include one for youth, ages 8-16, an adult short course, 27km and an adult long course, 108km. For details go to www.letourdeterracotta.com

Civic Holiday Swimming will be held at the Acton Pool, Leisure Swim/Lane: 2-3:30 p.m. and at the Gellert Community Centre, Leisure Swim: 1-2:30 p.m. and a Family Swim: 2:30-4 p.m. Regular admission applies.

August 8
Acton's Mill St. transforms into an avenue of family fun during the 19th annual Leathertown Festival. Explore the Magic of Mardi Gras! Lots of fun, food and entertainment for the whole family! Come and enjoy six blocks of activities for your enjoyment. Visit the kids zone and be entertained by Freddie Fusion, Fun First Climbing, and face painting to name a few. Take a stroll down "Bourbon Street" and stop at one of the many restaurant outdoor patios for a refreshment. The main stage headliner is The Happy Pals, a New Orleans style jazz band and Mark Crocker, world famous ventriloquist. Tens of thousands of cyclists have taken to their bikes at the RONA MS Bike Tours. This year it's from Acton to Waterloo. Beginning at Prospect Park in Acton, 7 a.m., you will take in the rural scenery as you head to the University of Waterloo for an overnight stay including a beer garden and dinner before returning to Acton the following morning. See classic cars from the 1920s to 1983 in a full on-street juried car show set to great music at the Georgetown Rock'N'Roll'N Classics, 5-11 p.m. in Downtown Georgetown. Three hundred classic and vintage cars line Main St. S.; wander the streets and listen to the live music of Rolly Rocker and the Hemi Heads while admiring the cars and soak in the ambience. Links2Care hosts its Youth Charity Golf Tournament at Golf North in Acton. Shot gun start at 7a.m. Cost, $90 per golfer includes 18 holes, golf cart, tasty lunch from the grill and good times! All funds raised support Open Door and Off The Wall Youth Centres.
