Spring is nature's way of saying, "Let's party."- comedian Robin Williams
Having endured one of the toughest winters in recent memory, who isn't ready for the "party" that spring brings.
With snowstorm warnings and extreme cold alerts all but a bad memory, it is now time for us to turn our attention to enjoying the great outdoors- once we get past the normally soggy month of April.
Spring is a season of hope and rejuvenation, not to mention colour.
In this edition of Sideroads of Halton Hills we've assembled a variety of stories that we feel are in keeping with this belief.
Writer Lisa Tallyn profiles the St. John Ambulance therapy dog program where good-natured canines provide a ray of sunshine to seniors and others living in assisted-living residences.
Patti Post has a fascinating article on the ancient Ukrainian tradition of Pysanky- or the making of Ukrainian Easter eggs. Discover how these eggs are turned into amazing works of art.
Nelia Raposo takes an in-depth behind-the-curtain look at the community theatre scene and some of the people who make it go.
Other stories you'll find in this edition include a profile of a unique Acton business- Floraglass- that uses all natural products to transform offices, home and work environments; Eamonn Maher's story on the popularity of the town's new indoor soccer facility in Acton and naturalist Kerry Jarvis takes a very close look at the Cecropia moth- the largest in North America.
That's just a sampling of what you'll find inside this edition of Sideroads, which by the way, has been named a finalist in the Best Special Section category of next month's 2008 Ontario Community Newspapers Association's annual awards competition.
